What I'm Reading....

I just finished this fun book...
Total chick lit.....no substance here...
but a cute and a really fast read...
as in a "I read the entire book in two flights and a layover" read.

The story is about June, a thirty-something young woman
who is the driver in a car accident that kills her passenger,
a 24 year old acquaintance named Marissa.
Marissa had made a list of things she wanted to do before she turned 25,
and June found it after Marissa's death.
The book chronicles June's determination
to finish all of the things on Marissa's list before Marissa's 25th birthday
in order to honor her memory.
Of course June learns a lot about herself throughout this process,
and the book is fairly predictable...
but if you're in the mood for a fun and mindless read,
this is a book for you.

The other book on my reading list is one that Lauren from Simply LKJ recommended last summer...
I downloaded it to my Nook in August and FINALLY got around to reading it on vacation.
This book was written for me.
I am having a particularly difficult time with my twin boys right now...
hormones I suspect...
theirs, not mine...
and I find myself losing my temper with them,
frequently,
which then makes me feel horrible.
Her book is easy to read,
she uses examples from her own real life
that I can certainly relate to,
and it's spiritually based and quite enriching.
(which happens to be one of my New Year's resolutions)
I haven't finished it yet, but it has already spoken to me.
GREAT read if you are a mom and run short on patience at times.
What a blessing to have such wonderful blog friends like Lauren,
who share everything from good books to good bargains!!!

What are y'all reading right now?

Summer Reading List

I had to LOL when I titled this post because the only reading I'm going to have time to do this summer is during the one week I am at my Michigan parents' house while the triplets are in sailing school. I might be able to sneak some in between baseball games during the week I'm in Cooperstown, NY with my twins in August....not yet sure what the schedule will be for that week.

Here are the books that are on my list...they are from all genres so it is a pretty random list!

I'll See You Again is a memoir written by a mother who lost her three daughters in a tragic accident. It details her journey through grief and how she found her way back to hope and love. I have a personal and professional interest in the area of grief, and find stories like these to be both educational and inspirational.

How Lucky Are You is a story about three friends and how they struggle to keep their friendship alive through loyalty and betrayal...this is definitely some "chick-lit" but looks to be in the same genre as the Emily Griffin books, which I LOVED!

The Weekend Makeover looks interesting as I am horrible about scheduling "me" time, and I often feel just as overwhelmed at the end of the weekend as I did on Friday.

That's My Son is a book that I definitely need to read...the subtitle speaks for itself "How Mom's Can Influence Boys To Become Men Of Character" and they have sequel called That's My Teenage Son (which I will be reading next year when my twins boys turn 13)

The Gift Of An Ordinary Day is a mother's memoir about a family during times of transitions...changes in jobs, children growing up, etc. and finding time to enjoy the moment. Another thing I need to work on...enjoying the moment.

One Thousand Gifts is a book that my friend, S, recommended and it is about finding the blessings in our every day life. It is a spiritual book, and there is also a Devotional and a Study Guide that you can purchase to go with this book. I have been buying most of my books on my Nook, however I think this is a book I want a hard copy of.

What is on your summer reading list? I am always looking for new books!
