My Virginia mom and I frequent the area consignment shops most Saturday mornings to see what treasures we can find. We have had a lot of success!
I plan on doing a post about our favorite shops,
but until then, here are a few of my favorite finds...
(forgive some of the poor quality pictures...I am currently without a camera and used my ipad)
VA mom found these swivel rockers for my sun room at one of our favorite shops...
And I had them turned into these adorable chairs, covered in a grass green fabric with a small white dot print, and I had them piped them in white.
I don't have "before" pictures but I found this sofa for $80! It was in PERFECT condition and a high quality brand, I just HATED the fabric...I already had the pink floral fabric so I had it recovered!
The ottoman in front of the sofa was also a consignment shop find and that was originally covered in a burgundy velour. I had it reupholstered in a cream fabric with a little green leaf print, and had it piped it in green. I use it as a coffee table/ottoman.
I found this chest for my entry hall, which ties in with the French Country décor in my living room.
I store mittens, hats, and school supplies in the drawers.
I just love this little end table I found for my formal living room!
(see here for pictures of my formal living room)
My VA mom found this awesome curio cabinet at a consignment shop...
And we have been filling it with a collection of blue and white porcelain pieces as well as some cobalt blue glass...most of which we have also found at consignment!
This is a "work in progress" as we are still looking for other pieces to balance things out in there.
These custom made golden yellow silk draperies have a tassel trim and VA mom found them at a consignment shop for less than the fabric alone would have cost!
My rug is from the Shades of Light decorator's outlet in RVA,
which one of my favorite bloggers, Small and Chic Home, posted about here.
My entire house is a "work in progress" which is frustrating at times because I want it done!
(see here for pictures of my progress)
When we bought our home in 2010, NOTHING had been changed since it was built in 1993.
You can imagine how happy my son was to have a room with pink bow wallpaper on the walls!
(we made that room a top priority!)
We need to completely redo the kitchen and bathrooms, but college tuition is bumping those projects back a few years!
In terms of the decorating, I have made great progress and a couple of the rooms are almost done, some of the rooms I have not started, and some I just can't seem to find what I want in order to finish them off (like the perfect rug for my powder room).
VA mom and I will continue to haunt the local consignment shops,
as well as our favorite Homegoods, Craig's List,
and a few of the local fabric and decorating shops
to get this place in order!
Do you have any great consignment or thrift shop finds?

I LOVE consignment shops. We have a few good ones around here. I love to go to Conn. because there are lots there!
I found a campaign style dresser in SC last summer and bought it before my husband could say no. :) We had to drive back to TX with luggage under everyone's feet. My husband still rolls his eyes when he looks at it...like, remember that trip where you bought that and we had to wedge it in the van and we were all squished like sardines? Best score ever though in my book :) and worth every bit of being uncomfortable.
I need to head up that way to go shopping. You have found some lovely things. I adore those chairs!
Great finds! Consignment shops are always a treasure hunt. Enjoy your weekend!
You hit the jackpot with these finds!!
Such great finds!!!
Try the Velvet ShoeString in Williamsburg....it is the GREATEST!!
Your home is so BEAUTIFUL!!! CL, eBay, and thrift stores are all my favorite ways to shop... and living in South Florida provides access to a veritable treasure trove for bargain hunters!!
