Weekend Recap...

What a weekend!

My weekend began on Thursday with a leisurely drive (NOT) up to Arlington, Virginia for the 12U Baseball All Star State Championship Tournament.

Just your average day on 95 in Northern Virginia.

Sadly, our team lost the first two games and we were out of the tournament by Thursday night. We decided to stay until Saturday since we already had hotel reservations, and the boys ended up having a blast despite their early loss.

Friday the girls hit Tyson's Galleria and the boys went to the Smithsonian Air and Space Museum out by Dulles Airport with a few of their baseball buddies.
Tyson's Galleria is the super swanky mall with Ferragamo, Tory Burch, Lilly Pulitzer, Cartier, David Yurman, Gucci, Louis Vuitton, and Burberrys just to name a few. We were salivating over the handbags and jewelry, and I decided I would forgo the Louis Vuitton luggage and pay the Kansas tuition bill....although that train case is pretty darn cute.

Friday night we took the girls to dinner at the Army Navy Country Club, which is almost done with a major remodel...actually, it was a tear down and start over...and the end result is really quite lovely.

This is what the club will look like when all of the construction is complete.

This is what it looks like now.

After a wonderful dinner we took the girls into Washington DC so our Kansas daughter could see the monuments at night...it was a beautiful evening and the girls really had fun.

At the Lincoln Memorial...seeing my children this happy is what brings me pure joy.

Photo with Abe...this is my favorite memorial.

The "rents" as the girls would say...

Kansas daughter, Louisiana daughter, my #2, and my #1.

We all headed home Saturday (with the girls taking a detour to Georgetown Cupcakes on the way out of town) and spend the rest of the weekend chillaxing...and doing laundry.

On a side note, it was a PLEASURE having Kansas daughter visit (my #1's BFF and sorority sister from KU). It was the first time we had met her in person and she is an absolutely delightful young lady with a great sense of humor, which you must have if you plan to hang out with this family for a week! We had a wonderful time getting to know her and she is a very special friend. Kansas daughter left to fly home this afternoon and we miss her already!
Two peas in a pod....these two are like kindred spirits.

It was a fantastic weekend...nothing makes me happier than spending time with family and friends.
Hope your weekend was a great one!

I don't know why this is my first comment on your blog, but I had my first Shirley Temple ever at the Army Navy Country Club. I thought it was SO fancy! I was probably about 10 years old. Just seeing the words brought back that memory. Thanks for that. :)
